“A dumb dollar beats a dumb dime anyday”
- Some ad guy whose name eludes me now
“I’d rather give my clients a smart dime.”
- Another ad guy whose name I also can’t remember, in response to previous idiotic statement
There was also this part in The Craft of Copywriting (I think), where he said something to the effect of,
“If you want a memorable TV spot, I can do it. I’ll just show a guy beating a drum and at every third beat he’ll shout the name of your product.”
I thought that was quite funny. Until, obviously, someone didn’t take it as a joke and actually went and did it. Heaven help us all.
