Bloody Idiots
Aussie ad campaigns are known for their irreverence and candor and none epitomises this quite like their anti-drink driving campaign with the very succinct and apt tagline, “If you drink and drive, you’re a bloody idiot.”
Now, I just heard from ndr that one of her friends has been involved in a motorbike accident with her boyfriend. Apparently, they were both drinking before zipping off on an unstable, 2-wheeled, non-covered, vulnerable, motor-powered vehicle.
Boom.
Pillion-riding girlfriend fractures arm, boyfriend suffers a muscle ache. That’s it, by the way. No fine, no police investigation, no demerit points, nothing.
Just for the record, and I know I might get bitchy and all sometimes, but I think (or at least hope) that I’m not especially malicious and wish harm upon others, but in this case, I seriously think they got off way too lightly.
Number 1: The idiot is, in my opinion, either too stubborn or stupid (or both) to have learnt his lesson and would probably do it again. I think a few broken ribs or a couple of months in traction might have given him a different point of view, but no, just a fractured arm and a muscle ache.
Number 2: This time they’re the ones that got injured. What about next time? What if he hits someone or causes an accident thanks to his impaired judgment? What if he’s driving a car instead of riding a bike? If you’re stupid enough to try to get yourself killed, just make sure you don’t take anyone else down with you, ya blimey twat.
Stupid, irresponsible fucked up children and their stupid, irresponsible fucked up nonsense. If either of you are reading this, I really just have this to say to you: Grow up.
And you can quote me on that.
