Riverdancing Pachyderms, Season 2

They’re back. Bigger and meaner than before. What should have started off as a nice, relaxing holiday saw me opening my eyes in the morning to a blinding pain just behind the retinas and a troupe of riverdancing elephants in my head that would’ve done Michael Flatley proud.

And perhaps it’s because I’ve been re-reading Good Omens, but I spent that evening in a semi-delirious state, alternating between feeling feverishly hot and nightmarishly cold, all the while seriously believing Armageddon was arriving and having visions of the Four Horsemen in my head. And no, they weren’t doing the Riverdance.

And when I saw the doc the next day, mainly for the cough, cold, and headache (oh, the pain, the PAIN!), she seemed more concerned about my palpitations. Did a quick test and she said my heart rate was a tad high, even with the fever (116, I believe). Then proceeds to give me some pills, and instructions to pop them, wait two hours and if palpitations persist, off to hospital I go. Bah. Seems all good now though…..

Oh, and also managed to catch Merry Christmas (or Joyeux Noël) the other day. Again, since I was re-reading Good Omens then, a certain phrase in the book came to mind. About how the Devil doesn’t have to make people do anything because “the real grace and the real heart-stopping evil, was right inside the human mind.” I think that summed up the movie quite nicely. Go watch it if you haven’t already.
